NYSC Batch C 2014 Mobilization Timetable, Camp Opens 4th Nov

NYSC Batch C 2014 timetable for mobilization and orientation programme is out. NYSC Camp for Batch C opens on the 4th November, 2014. All graduates of institutions that are mobilizing prospective corps members for the 2014 Batch C orientation programme should take note.
According to this timetable, printing and picking up call up letters will take place between 28th and 30th October, 2014. Yes, from Batch C 2014, NYSC prospective corps members can print their call-up letter online.

Eligibility For The CAHF Scholarship Awards

1. Applicants MUST be registered FULL-TIME undergraduate in any Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. The candidate should be intelligent, brilliant and in great need of financial assistance for his/her academic pursuits.
2. Applicants for the scholarship MUST have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of Second Class (Upper Division) and above or its equivalent.

2014 FUNAAB Student Union Election Through E-Voting



 
A release by the Dean Student Affairs, Professor Y. Akegbejo-Samsons stated that the 2014 FUNAABSU elections of the Supreme Student Ruling Cabinet (SSRC) has been scheduled to hold on Thursday August 21, 2014 by the FUNAABSU Independent Electoral Committee (FUNAABSUIEC).
For the very first time in history of the University, all eligible students (voters) are required to exercise their voting right through E-Voting.
The voting exercise shall take place at the ICT Computer Laboratories, while eligible voter shall be accredited on sight and thereafter given log-in codes to complete action on the voting exercise.

MOUAU Female Undergraduate Crushed to Death by a Bus Driver

A female student identified as Miss Cynthia Okebaram of the Micheal Okpara University was on Monday crushed to death by a bus driver.

The ugly incident which happened at the main gate of the institution as reported was caused by the driver who was on high speed on the ever-busy Umuahia Ikot-Ekpene Road when he tried to overtake a trailer; Skidded off the road and hit the student who was standing close to the gate apparently with the intention of crossing the road, crushing her skull.

This attracted the wrath of other students around who wasted no time in destroying the vehicle and setting it ablaze.

However, the driver was said to have escaped unhurt to a nearby police station.

The deceased was said to have completed her Diploma in Computer Science and was processing her clearance.

WAEC Withholds Results of 145,795 Candidates

West Africa Examination Council, WAEC withheld results of 145,795 candidates who sat for the May/ June 2014 exams.
The results were withheld under allegations of connection with several instances of exam malpractices.
Candidates who have their results withheld should however, not lose all hopes.
May/June 2014 WAEC Withheld Results Update Head of National Office, WAEC, Mr. Charles Eguridu who disclosed that the results of 145,795 candidates, representing 8.61%, are being withheld in connection with various types of examination malpractice said,
“The cases are being investigated and the reports of the investigations will be presented in November to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC).”
Therefore, some will be free of this allegations and have their results released. Those that are eventually found out to have taken part in any examination malpractice will have their result withheld permanently.

BSU Female Hostel Gutted by Fire

A fire outbreak at the female hostel of Benue State University (BSU) has rendered about 92 female students homeless.

The fire, which was said to have started around 10.00 a.m in one of the rooms, destroyed valuable items belonging to the students.

At about 1.00 p.m, men of the state fire service, were seen struggling to put out the fire.

The Dean, Students’ Affairs of the institution, Professor Armstrong Adejoh, has said that the incident may have either been triggered by power fluctuation due to epileptic power supply in the school or a human error.

Please be informed that The Polytechnic Ibadan Computer Based Testing (CBT) for prospective National Diploma Students has been scheduled to start from 18th August 2014. LASU:Student Rejoice Over Reversal Of Tuition Fees







The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola has ordered the reversal of the tuition Fees in the Lagos State University to its previous status.

This according to report was stated by the Governor at the convocation ceremony of the institution.

It would be recalled that there was a hike in Tuition fees which led to protests by students of the institution which led to 34% to 60% reduction on the fees by the governor.

This however was again rejected by staff and students of the institution.

If this is implemented students will again pay as low as N25, 000.

    NYSC Announces The Redeployment Of Corps Members From Seven Northern States.

    The affected states are Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano and Yobe states.

    A statement on Thursday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations in NYSC, Mrs. Bose Aderibigbe, said the decision followed the high rate of insecurity in some parts of the North.

    The corps members are part of the 2014 Batch 'B' Orientation Course scheduled to commence next week Tuesday August 5, 2014.

    The NYSC said due to logistic reasons, the orientation course will be conducted in two streams for different states.

    The Stream One exercise will be conducted from Tuesday, August 5 to Tuesday, August 26 2014 in Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Oyo, Niger, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, FCT, Imo, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kogi, Katsina, Nasarawa, Ogun, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara states.

    Corps members posted to states listed in the Stream One category will undergo the orientation course in their respective states of deployment.

    The statement explained that the Stream Two exercise, meant for the affected northern states, had been scheduled for Monday, September 1, 2014 to Monday, September 22, 2014.

    Corps members posted to Adamawa State will have their orientation programme in Niger; Bauchi corps members are expected to resume in Plateau State orientation camp while those posted to Borno State are to proceed to the Nasarawa State camp.

    Other affected states are Gombe, where corps members are expected to serve in Benue and Jigawa State corps members are expected to have their orientation programme in Kaduna.

    Corps members posted to Yobe State are expected to resume at the Federal Capital Territory Orientation camp.

    The NYSC said corps members posted to Kano State would be notified of the state of their orientation in due course while those posted to Osun State will serve in Osun for the second stream of the exercise.
